A Black Thumb :(

Hopefully this isn't an omen to how I treat ALL living things. The beautiful plant my mom got the Hubs after his grandmother passed away a couple weeks ago, now looks very very sad:
Cause of death: in true Italian woman form--overfeeding. I freaked out that it wasn't getting enough water and this is what happened. I do this to all plants, though, so I shouldn't be surprised. Oddly enough, when I was traveling last week, the plant was in the Hubs' care and it was beautifully bloomed and strong. What can I say? The Hubs is much better with plants (and let's be honest, he's better with all living things really ;) ). Sorry mom!

Furniture!

On Sunday, the Hubs and I went into full baby furniture mode. We had already found the crib a couple weeks ago, but after looking at Peanut's room, we came to the conclusion that the enormous 64" long dresser that I previously purchased was just not going to work. With the help of the Hub's BFF, D (of D & G), we took back the dresser and started our hunt. We went to the furniture Mecca, otherwise known as Southcenter (which I absolutely despise) and began our hunt. After about 3 hours, we realized that getting what we wanted for a bargain was not going to happen, so we went back to old faithful (Merry-Go-Round Children's store) and got exactly what we were looking for:

The Crib--Pali Designs, Salerno Crib:
The Dresser/Changer--Million Dollar Baby, Annabelle. Look how proud the Hubs is that we *finally* found one we like!

One of the cool things about this dresser is it comes with a top, so it can look like a traditional changer like the picture below, but when you no longer need the changer, the top converts to a nightstand (comes with attachable legs):
And finally, The Glider--Best Chairs Storytime Series, Patoka w/Ottoman in Taupe. We really wanted a chair that didn't look like the typical wood glider and so we got this (the ottoman glides too, so comfy!):

The great thing about all of the furniture we got was even though it cost an arm and a leg, the crib converts to a toddler bed and a full bed and the dresser s/he can use for life and the chair can nicely go in a rec room or den. Next project: painting the room!

24 week check up!

How far along? 24 weeks

Total weight gain/loss: ~+15...seeing the doctor next week and really hoping I didn't go crazy lately.

Maternity clothes?: Fo sho.

Stretch marks? Unfortunately, Lefty (left boob) is stretchy stricken on the underside. None other than that, well, that I can see :(

Sleep: Lately, it's been marvelous. Peanut gives me a not-so-subtle 5am wakeup call to give it more room by getting up to pee by kicking me.

Best moment this week: While laying it bed, I started talking to Peanut and it kicked back! I'm sure it's a coincidence, but I like to think it was saying "Hi Mommy! I hear you!"

Movement: Yes and lots of it. I'm enjoying every minute of it.

Food cravings: Yesterday it was garlic. Usually I just crave food in general.

Gender: Now I'm back to thinking boy.

Labor Signs: may have had my first round of Braxton Hicks on Tuesday night...or I may have just worn myself out dancing at a nightclub in Atlanta...yes, you read that right.

Belly Button in or out? Still slightly innie, but is flattening out more and more every day.

What I miss: Skinny ankles

What I am looking forward to: Working on the nursery and (hopefully) passing the glucose tolerance test on Thursday.

Weekly Wisdom: Only fly when absolutely necessary...it's getting difficult between the lugging around luggage to water retention to the crazy swollen feet...not fun.

Milestones: Today is Viability Day! While it's not all that great of news, but Peanut would have a 50/50 shot with NICU care of surviving outside the womb. Clearly, I want Peanut to cook longer, preferably another 14-16 weeks longer. Basically what it really means is if I (GOD FORBID) go into labor, the NICU would do everything in their power to save my child. Any time before this, most insurance companies wouldn't allow it. :: Exhale ::
