Due Date!

Due date is here and no baby yet. Had a nice day and tried to stay busy...went and had lunch with Mom and Dad and then Mom and I went on a nice long walk. It's amazing how quickly the last 40 weeks have gone by and how anxious the next several days will be awaiting the big moment....

Below is another pink shirt picture along with the others to compare:

40 weeks!

Sorry for the poor picture quality, I had to take it on my Blackberry since our camera is in the hospital bag in the Hubs' car. We are definitely at bowling ball status! :)

Baby Steps

For the many challenges in life, I find it helpful to consult one of the all-time best doctors: Dr. Leo Marvin. You might have heard of him:

Today, we had our appointment to see if Peanut has made any progress and lo and behold, it had! I am 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced! Ok, it's not huge progress, but as Dr. Marvin would say, it's about setting small, reasonable goals, so I'm happy! If Peanut makes it through the weekend, then the next check up will be on Monday, followed by an ultrasound on Thursday. If nothing happens by then, we will plan for an induction ::shudder:: sometime the week following. I would really rather not be induced. I trust my body and I just want Peanut to come when s/he is ready...but I also have planned for a June baby, not a July baby. So again, we wait...

A Sign or Just a Cruel Coincidence?

I'm thinking it's the latter. What I am referring to is my unwavering ability to have some kind of ailment for all of life's big events. College Graduation? Horrible cold. Wedding Day? Awful sinus infection. Babymoon Trip? Unbearable lower back pain. And now, just 3 days shy of my due date, I have come down with a cold. The Hubs apparently agrees, because when he came home from work today to see me on the couch with Kleenex said, "Oh no, you're sick? Well, that means the baby is coming soon!" I think it may be one big fake out. I feel exactly the same as last week, just bigger...if that is even possible.

We have a Doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon and all day I've been fantasizing that the Doctor will check me and announce, "Today is baby's birthday! Head straight over to Labor and Delivery!" However, seeing as my water is still intact and my lack of contractions, I don't think that is going to happen. Today I finished folding Peanut's last load of laundry, cleaned the bathrooms, cleaned out the freezer and refrigerator and went to the store to restock...just in case. Let's hope for progress tomorrow!

Potpourri

This posting contains a little of this and a little of that...first off, I hope you like the face lift to the blog. I had a very strong feeling of "I HATE this background" today, so it had to be changed right away.

Second, I was hoping the baby would be born today. Not because I'm uncomfortable (I'm really not) or I'm sick of being pregnant (also not) but because today has a lot of significance for the Hubs and I. The Hubs' late Grandma & Grandpa were married on this day in 1946 and today was also the fateful day that I met my Future-Hubs, 9 years ago, at a fraternity, in a room, lovingly referred to as "The Mole Hole"...it was wonderful. Our eyes met from across the smelly, crowded room, Outkast's "Miss Jackson" playing in the background and with a couple of Keystone Lights in our hands...ahh...memories! Even the Hubs remembered our little faux-anniversary as I was surprised with beautiful red roses! Anyway, The Hubs and I thought it would be neat if our little Peanut was born to add to the significance of June 9th, but unless I begin and finish labor in the next 7 hours and 14 minutes, it doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

Which segways nicely into my third update, Peanut seems to be quite happy inside. I had my 38 week appointment (just 2 days shy of 39 weeks...oh well) and Peanut has come down some and my (WARNING--Dad, I'm going to mention girly parts) cervix is getting softer (I know...ewww), but not much else is happening in there. Next check up is next Wednesday 6/16, and I went ahead and booked another appointment with the Doctor for 6/21, 3 days post due date. Things are pretty quiet here, so I think Peanut will be a bit late to the party. I've been having some very mild and random contractions and some discomfort in my lower back, but that is it. Oh, besides the fact that I feel like a bowling ball is wedged in my pelvis...besides that, all quiet on the baby eviction front. Until next week!

Peanut's Nursery!

Peanut's nursery is done, and I must say, I love it. From the start, I wanted a yellow, gray and white nursery and couldn't find anything I liked, so most everything in here was purchased seperately or designed by me. It was a great project to work on and I love just going in there and looking at everything...hopefully Peanut (and you!) will agree:

A Tight Squeeze...

Poor Peanut...

Yesterday morning I woke up to some jabs by my little one. The Hubs and I think Peanut was trying to tell me that it's getting to be a tight squeeze in there! Finally, s/he got comfortable...quite the funny angle though:

Getting close to eviction time!
